Curriculum

At Dame Tipping C E School we offer an inclusive, broad and balanced curriculum which is designed to give children the knowledge and skills to prepare them for the next stage in their education. Meaningful links are made across curriculum areas and children are encouraged to follow lines of enquiry which interest them through their topic work.

In Reception, children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum. Years 1-6 follow the National Curriculum.

Phonics is taught using a combination of ‘Jolly Phonics’ and ‘Letters and Sounds’. Children also read the ‘Bug Club’ phonics books at home.

Religious Education is taught in the school in accordance with the agreed syllabus adopted by the London Borough of Havering. The content of the syllabus reflects the fact that the religious traditions in this country are in the main Christian. The content is not based on the teachings of any particular denomination. Pupils will be made aware of the teaching and practices of other principal religions.
