‘The best that I can be’

Safeguarding at Dame Tipping

Whilst it is everyone’s responsibility to keep children safe at Dame Tipping, members of our Safeguarding Team have a specific role to play in this. They have additional training and expertise in safeguarding and child protection:

Designated Safeguarding Lead- Mrs Waters
The DSL has an overall responsibility for safeguarding. Any concerns about your own or other children in the school should be reported to Mrs Waters. Mrs Waters will then investigate and contact the agencies who can take the necessary action to keep the children safe.

Deputy Safeguarding Lead- Ms Holmes
Ms Holmes supports Mrs Waters in safeguarding the children. Any concerns should be reported to Ms Holmes in the event that Mrs Waters is unavailable. Ms Holmes will then take the appropriate action.

Deputy Safeguarding Lead- Mrs Squirrell
Mrs Squirrell is our Senior Learning Mentor and Deputy Safeguarding Lead. She works closely with children and families in order that they can fulfil their potential. Mrs Squirrell also works closely with Miss North, our Special Need Co-ordinator, to plan and deliver support and intervention as and when children require it. As our school’s ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Adviser), Mrs Squirrell also provides emotional support to children across the school.

Year 1 Forest School

Year 1 were so excited to tell me about their experiences at Forest School this week. They enjoyed playing outside and learning all about woodland creatures. The children even had a chance to practise their leadership skills.

Clubs

I sent a message on Class Dojo to say that computing club on a Friday is oversubscribed. The best way of sorting this issue is to have the older children (Y4, 5 and 6) attend computing club on Mondays. Please let me know if there is an issue with this, otherwise I will assume that from next week, your children in Y4,5 and 6 will attend on Monday from 3-4pm.

Please ensure that you pay for your child’s clubs on sQuid. If we do not receive enough funds from parents to pay for staffing and resources, clubs may not be able to continue.

Do You Fancy Learning a New Skill?

Bell Ringing Lessons will be running at St. John’s church starting on Monday from 7pm-8pm, meeting at the church entrance.

Unwelcome Visitors

Please could you check your child’s hair for head lice this weekend and treat as appropriate. We have had a few cases of head lice in school and need to stop them from spreading. Thank you for your

co-operation.

Young Voices

Please can you ensure that you give in your permission slips for the O2 as soon as possible so that final arrangements/ groupings can be organised. Thank you.
