‘The best that I can be’
It has been so lovely to have the children back again. They have come back with a really positive attitude and look so smart in their uniforms. There is a calm, purposeful atmosphere in school (despite the building work!) and the children’s behaviour has been excellent. Our new children have settled in very well and are already making friends. Hopefully you have had a chance to meet our new Deputy Head, Ms Holmes. If not, please say hello to her over the coming weeks. We look forward to welcoming our new Reception children on Monday.
Parent Information Meetings
Parent information meetings will take place after school during the week beginning 18th September.
This will be a chance for you to meet your child’s teacher and find out what they will be learning this term. Class 5 and 6 parents will also be able to find out about the residential trip to Kingswood.
Class 5 and 6 : Monday 18th September
Class 3 and 4 : Wednesday 20th September
Reception and Class 1 and 2 : Thursday 21st September
Clubs
In addition to our after school care provision, foundation sports will be running sports clubs. Clubs will be charged at £25 per term (10 sessions) and will start on the week beginning 18th September. Letters about these clubs will go out next week. If your child is in after school care, they will be able to attend any age appropriate sports clubs on those days for no extra cost.
Tuesday: Years 4, 5& 6 boys’ football
Wednesday: Years 1, 2 & 3 football (boys and girls)
Thursday: Years 4, 5 & 6 girls’ football
Dress our Dollies!
The poor dolls in Reception have no clothes ! If you have any very small baby clothes or doll’s clothes at home that you don’t need any more, please bring them in and give them to Miss North or Mrs Hood. Thank you.
Booster Classes
In preparation for the SATs tests in May, selected Year 6 pupils will be asked to attend booster classes. Maths with Mrs Omodara will be on Mondays and English with Mrs McCormack will be on Wednesdays ,3pm-4pm. If your child receives a letter inviting them to booster classes, we would like them to attend each week. Booster classes begin on Monday 18th September.
Dame Tipping Gospel Choir
Our School and Community Gospel Choir will begin rehearsals for a fundraising Christmas concert on Wednesday 20th September. The first rehearsal will be at the school, with subsequent rehearsals in St. John’s church. You do not need to be a great singer to join, or to read music, as long as you are enthusiastic and willing to commit to rehearsals. Feel free to bring friends with you. This is an adult choir, so over 16s only, please. We look forward to seeing you there.
Payment for Breakfast and After School Clubs
There have been some problems with SQUID pay, which has meant that parents have been unable to pay for breakfast/after school club. If you are unable to pay online over the weekend (we are hoping that the situation will be resolved before then), please pay for the first week by cash or cheque on Monday morning. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please make sure that you register your child for breakfast and after school club before they attend.
