Dear Parents/ Carers,
We have had lots of fun celebrating ‘Book Week’ this week. Class 3 treated us to a special assembly about ‘courage’ and performed some stories in which characters showed courage. We also had a fantastic dress up day and a special book assembly today. Thank you to all the children, staff and parents for putting in so much effort.
Don’t forget that school is closed to children on Monday 23rd February for staff training. Children return on Tuesday 24th February.
Parent Consultation Evening
Thank you for attending the parent consultation evening. We had a very positive response from parents about the new format and about the target sheets. If you have any further comments or feedback, please email the office. It was lovely to see so many of you in person too.
Book Fair
We had a fantastic response to the book fair and the children are very excited about the books they bought. We took over £650, which means that the school will receive £325 in rewards, which we will use to replace some of the old non-fiction books which have gone from the library. Thank you so much for supporting this.
Saturday Football School
Del, one of our resident sports coaches, will be starting a football club on Saturday 28th February. The club will run from 9am-11am and will be exclusively for Dame Tipping pupils, years 1-6. Full details will be sent out on Monday 23rd February. Please register your interest at: southwestessex@foundation-sports.com or call on 07806 811589.
Football Matches
Our year 5/6 boys’ football team have played 2 matches. The first was against Crownfields last Friday. Alfie Colton was named Man of the Match. This Thursday, They played Parklands Juniors. Michael Battrum scored an excellent goal and was Man of the Match. Although the team have not won a match yet, they are improving all the time and have displayed perseverance and an excellent sporting attitude.
Parking
Some of you will have seen the police outside the school last Friday. They are monitoring the parking situation at local schools and will issue tickets. There will also be a smart car patrolling, which will take pictures of people parking illegally.
Calling All Singers!
Next term, we would like to hold a musical; evening, where children (and adults) can play instruments and sing to an audience. We would like the choir to perform at this event, but need more members to make the choir stronger. Choir takes place after school on a Wednesday with ‘Shoop’. Please let the office know if your child would like to join. In future, we are hoping that the choir will be able to take part in more out of school concerts.
Inset Days for September
I have set the first 2 days of September as INSET days, so we will return to school after the Summer Holidays on Thursday 3rd September 2015. Please bear these dates in mind when booking holidays. The full calendar for the year will be on the school website soon.
