‘The best that I can be’
Dear Parents/ Carers,
We have had another lovely week at school. I had the pleasure of teaching class 1 on Tuesday and they really impressed me with their work, their good behaviour and their enthusiasm. Class 2 produced some excellent handwriting in our session yesterday and Class 3 have made some beautifully colorful sea creatures, which are now adorning their classroom. Class 4 also impressed me with their brilliant listening skills and balances during their gymnastics lesson.
Tag Rugby Tournament
Well done to our Year 3 and 4 Tag Rugby team who won 3 of their games in yesterday’s tournament. The children had a lovely day. Thank you to Mrs. Davies for supervising the children and to the parents for taking the children along.
New Door Entry System
To improve security and to relieve pressure on the office, we have installed a new door entry system. Please ensure that you close the door firmly when leaving the building.
Reception Photographs
A photographer from the Romford Recorder will be in on Monday to take a group photograph of our Reception class. Please let me know if you do not wish your child to be included.
Havering Music School
This week, I met with representatives from the Havering Music School to hear about the service they provide for primary schools. There will be a meeting for any parents who are interested in their children learning an instrument in school on Tuesday 19th May at 9.15am. Please let the office know if you wish to attend so that we know how many parents to expect. If you are interested in music lessons but are not able to attend the meeting, we can provide you with information about the service.
We hope that lots of children will take the opportunity to have music lessons, as this will mean that we can offer a wide range of instruments and hopefully have our own musical ensemble.
Friends of Dame Tipping Meeting
The Friends of Dame Tipping will be meeting next Tuesday, 28th April at 9.15am. Please come along if you can. The Friends will be discussing future events and talking about how they will use the funds raised to benefit the school.
Lost Uniform
Please could all parents check at home that they do not have uniform belonging to others. Several children still have lost items of uniform, despite looking in lost property. The lost property tub is overflowing at the moment, so please do check it and take away any items that belong to your children. Please could you also ensure that all items are named.
School Car Park
To ensure that we keep our children safe from harm, please can I remind all parents to drive very slowly down the lane and in the car park.
‘Mathletics’
We have signed up to a free 2 week trial of ‘Mathletics’: an online Maths homework program. All being well, the children in years 1-6 should be able to access it from Monday for a period of 2 weeks. Once the trial starts, we would appreciate any feedback. If the trial is successful, we will look into purchasing the scheme.
Attendance
Well done to Class 2 for their 99.7% attendance this week. Unfortunately, we have had a lot of illness this week, so the other classes are below our target. Hopefully, all of the children will be fit and healthy enough to come to school next week.
Commendations
Milo Shorter, Krishaan Chagger, Dylan Patel, Josh Thurbon, Finlay McKeown, Tommy Randall, Tobi Oyetunde, Elena Marshall, Michelle Onifade, Krish Patel, Dylan Alexander, Mikey Snow, Joe Stanley, Louise Stafford, Joshua Airen, Dhiya Chagger.
