‘The best that I can be’

Howzat?
Our Year 5 and 6 cricket team did extremely well at the tournament on Wednesday, We were really proud with the way they played and their excellent attitude and behaviour. The team won one of their games, which was a great achievement. The children who took part were: Aaron Hick,
Zachary Teshola, Imogen Snell, Nicole Mahoney, Faye Newman, Oliver Mahoney, Lou-Lou French, Fibian McKenzie, Elena Marshall, Emily Harris and Jack Robinson. You really did the school proud!

Hackney Half Marathon
Over the last half term fourteen children from KS2 Running Club have been taking part in the Schools’ Challenge organised by Virgin Sport as part of the Hackney Half Marathon Festival of Sport. Each week they have run 1-2 miles at lunchtime, completing a total of 12 miles over seven weeks. On Sunday 20th May they travelled to Hackney Marshes to complete the final 1.1 miles of the challenge and claim their half marathon medals. The children really enjoyed having the opportunity to take part in a real running event, crossing the same finish line as the adult half marathon runners and even earning the same medal! The children who took part have shown exceptional dedication and should be very proud of their achievement.

Well done to Aaron Hick, Jack Webb, Lexi Webb, George Viney, Zachary Teshola, Elena Marshall, Caleb Chen, Jack Wallis, Sophia-Louise Turner, Kai Davis, Chinaza Osaji-Okai and Fae Dignum. An honourable mention goes to Evie Baldwin and Jack Robinson, who were unable to run on Sunday but completed the 12 miles at school with the others.

Thank you to Mrs Webb for running with the children on the day.

New Website Photos
The photographers from Carmel Jane photography came to take some new photographs for the website on Wednesday. They took some great shots and I am looking forward to seeing the proofs next week. Both photographers commented on how polite and well behaved our children are and they were particularly impressed with how kind they were to one another.

School Journey
I would like to wish class 5 and 6 a safe and enjoyable school journey next week. Having been before, I am sure they will have a fantastic time and learn lots about themselves and each other over the course of the week.

Year 2 Assessments
Well done to all the Year 2 children who completed their KS1 assessments this week. The children tried really hard to apply their learning to the assessments. Thank you to all the adults who supported with the assessments.

Contacting the School About Sickness
If your child is off sick, you must phone the office and speak to Mrs Wakeman or leave a message on the answer phone. Please do not send a message on class dojo, as it is Mrs Wakeman who is responsible for chasing up attendance.

Term Time Holidays
I have had several requests for term time holidays over the past week. Please note that term time holidays will not be authorised. The local authority monitors unauthorised holidays and will issue penalties for parents who take their children on holiday during term time. As you can see form this week’s attendance, term time holidays have a huge impact on our school’s attendance figures, but, more importantly, a huge impact on children’s learning. We cannot teach your children when they are not here. Please take your family holidays during the 13 weeks of school holiday which have been allocated. Thank you for your co-operation.
