‘The best that I can be’
Dear parents/ carers,
We made the most of the sunshine on Thursday, Reception playing outside with the Podley and Year 5 and 6 doing their group reading in the sun. It has been lovely for the children to enjoy playing on the grass at lunchtimes.
Goodbye Mr. Drury
After over 16 years at Dame Tipping, Mr. Drury will be leaving us at the end of this term. We wish him a relaxed and happy retirement and hope that he enjoys spending more time with his family. We would like to thank Mr. Drury for everything he has contributed to the school over the years.
Year 5 and 6 Girls’ Cricket Tournament
A group of year 5 and 6 girls went over to Rainham on Thursday to take part in a cricket tournament.
They did not bring home any trophies this time, but had a lovely day and behaved excellently. Thank you to Mrs. Potts and Mrs. Davies for taking them.
Forest school
The year 2s had their first Forest School session on Thursday. They had a great time learning all about the tools and having a go at sawing some wood. The session was rounded off with a tasty snack and a drink.
Bags 2 School
Don’t forget that the Friends have arranged for a collection of unwanted clothes from the school on Wednesday 10th June. The school will receive money based on how many clothes we collect. Please fill the bags and return them to school on that date (not before as we have very limited storage space). Thank you.
‘Mathletics’
We have now purchased the Mathletics homework programme for the coming year. As soon as the teachers have had a chance to set up the appropriate programmes, the children will be given their new log-ins.
Quiz Night
Please could you let Danielle and Kay know if you would like tickets to the Friends Quiz Night on the 12th June. Please pay in advance for your table/team. We need to know numbers asap so that we can organise the evening.
Sun Safety
Now that the weather is turning warmer, it is even more important that the children drink plenty of water during the day. Please provide your child with a named bottle, containing water only. They should also have sun cream applied at home before school and have a school baseball cap. We do have sunhats available for anyone who does not have a school cap.
Class Photos
Our school photographer, Sue, will be coming in to take class photos on Wednesday 10th June in the afternoon. You may send your child in with a hairbrush if you wish!
Open Afternoons
We will be giving parents an opportunity to look at their children’s work and have an informal chat with class teachers about their progress during our open afternoons. These will take place as follows:
Years 1,3,5 and Reception- Monday 13th July 1pm-3pm
Years 2,4,6 and Reception –Tuesday 14th July 1pm-3pm
We hope that you can join us. If you need to make a more formal appointment to discuss your child’s report, this should be agreed with the teacher for later in the same week.
Attendance
Well done to Class 2 for having the best attendance this week. They had 97.84%.
