This week, we welcomed Ian Gurman and David Denchfield from the LIFE EducationTrust for a review of our school. They visited classrooms, spoke to children and teachers and looked at the children’s work. It was a great opportunity to share what we do at Dame Tipping. They were very impressed with our children and commented on how proud the children are of our school. I will share more information with you once we receive the report in the next couple of weeks.
Transition
Yesterday, Year 1-5 got to work with their new classes and teachers, which was a very positive experience for all. Many of our Year 6 children have enjoyed experiencing taster days at their secondary schools, this week too. They have had the opportunity to meet their new teachers and classes and sample lessons in a variety of different subjects. It has been a positive experience and they are looking forward to the new challenges that lie ahead for them. We must make the most of their company for their remaining time at Dame Tipping.
Book Sale
Thank you for donations and supporting the book sale that we have this week. Our profits will be announced once the Friday sale has taken place. The Book sale will continue at the front of school at the end of the day.
School Games Mark
I have been working with the LIFE Trust PE co-ordinator this week and am pleased to say that we have been successful in keeping our Bronze School Games Mark. We have lots of plans in place for next year to expand and improve our sports provision further and hope to move onto our Silver award.
Visit to St Edward’s Academy
Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting St Edward’s academy to see one of our ex pupils Imogen Snell in a drama production. The students have been working with a BBC writer and a professional composer to produce an original piece on the theme of resilience. It was lovely to see Imogen perform so confidently and build on the performing arts opportunities she had at Dame Tipping.
Prayer Area
The Collective Worship Team has been working with Reverend Alan to create a prayer area in the foyer. The current theme is Forgiveness and children have had an opportunity to reflect on how they might forgive someone who has upset them. Mojola, Fae and Fern have given up many of their lunchtimes to support children in the ‘Fizzy Forgiveness’ activity.
Hot Weather
We are forecast some very hot weather over the next few weeks. Please could you send your children into school with suncream applied, with a water bottle and with a school baseball cap. Thank you.
Goodbye
Sadly we say goodbye to our French teacher Annabelle Erzepa. Annabel is expecting her first baby and will be moving to Paris next month. We wish her every happiness for the future.
‘Tipping’s Got Talent’ and Singathon
On Friday 19th July, the whole school will be taking part in a sponsored ‘Singathon’. As soon as ‘Tipping’s Got Talent’ is over in the morning, we will spend the whole day singing! Each class, plus the teachers, will take in turns singing, so that there is singing happening somewhere in school all day. We will also be singing in the playground. Children will be given sponsorship forms next week. Please ask friends and family to sponsor your child. All money raised will go towards resourcing our creative curriculum, which we will be developing over the next 2 years. Thank you for your support.
Sports Day
We are looking forward to welcoming you all to Sports day on the 18th July. Sports day will start at 1:30pm, you can arrive after 1:10pm. Please do not make your way into school until then as the children will be using the compound for their lunchtime play. Children can come dressed in their School PE kit on that day. They will need a water bottle, cap and plenty of suncream. They will not need to bring any other bags with them. When Sports Day has finished the children will be released from the compound to parents and Carers. If you are unable to attend, usual arrangements for collecting children and afterschool care will still be in place.
An Evening of Song with Dame Tipping Gospel Choir (and friends!)
Please remember to buy your tickets for this event. It promises to be a lovely evening and the children are already sounding fantastic. You will also have the opportunity to hear some of our very own Dame Tipping teachers singing. There will be some tickets to purchase on the door; however, if you don’t purchase your tickets in advance, we can’t guarantee that there will be refreshments for everyone.
Tickets are £5 for adults and £3 for children, including refreshments; they can be purchased from Mrs Waters, Ms Holmes or any member of the choir. Thank you for your support.
