‘The best that I can be’

Reports and Results

Thank you to those parents who have fed back about the children’s reports. We are always looking for ways to provide you with the information you need about your children’s progress in a format that is clear and will review the format again next year. Please be assured that, although the teacher comments are typed, they are personally written for each child. As I wrote the Class 5 and 6 reports with Mrs. Fletcher, I did not include an extra Headteacher’s comment. As I said in last week’s newsletter, nationally only 53% of Year 6 children met the government’s standard this year, so the results cannot be compared to previous years. Our children have performed very well in the tests and we are very proud of them.

Year 5 and 6 Play

The children really did us proud in their production of ‘Bugsy Malone’ yesterday. They really are a talented bunch! I have had lots of comments from staff members, parents and governors about how much they enjoyed the show and how impressed they were with the children’s singing, acting and dancing. Thank you to everyone involved in making the show a success. If anyone has any good photos of the performance, please email them to the office. Thank you

Sports Day

We had a great day on Tuesday and managed to escape too much rain so that all the children could compete. Well done to all the children for their efforts and for Yellow Team for winning the cup.

Tipping’s got Talent

The talent show will now take place on Wednesday morning. Sorry, but this event is for the school only. We look forward to seeing parents at our leaver’s service in the afternoon.

Cricket at Bedfords Park

If you would like to join us after school tonight, we will be having a family cricket match at Bedfords Park by the first car park. We will go there straight after school finishes. This is a family event, so all children will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Kingswood Refunds

Unfortunately, we have not yet received the refunds from Kingswood for the days we did not attend. As the company only do their BACS payments on a Friday, it is likely that we will receive the money after the end of term. We will therefore give parents their cheques in September. For year 6, we will post your cheques at the beginning of term. We are sorry that you will not receive your money sooner, but have done everything we can to try to speed up the process.

Goodbye, Mr. Curley !

As Mr. Curley is unable to attend the leaver’s service on Wedesday, we would like to wish him well in his new school and thank him for all his hard work this term. Mr. Curley’s last day will be next Monday. We will say goodbye to all other leavers during our service on Wednesday.

Year 5 / 6 Enterprise Project

Dear Parents,

Thank you for your support for our class Enterprise project. You will have noticed of late that our Year 5 and 6 children have been making and selling products in order to make money for our end-of-year treat. They have learnt to budget, research ingredients and materials, work together as a team and make quality products for sale. They have enjoyed making, promoting and, in some cases, eating their finished products. It has proved to be a valuable, real-life experience. Thank you for purchasing their products. We hope that you enjoyed them!

Year 6 Year Book

Over the last half term, Year 6 have been producing a Year Book, which includes some of their favourite memories and photographs from their time at Dame Tipping School. It is a great keepsake of their time here. If you would like a PDF copy to print at home, please give Mrs Fletcher an email address. Alternatively, we can print a copy at a cost of £2. Please place your order with Mrs Fletcher. Thank you.
