‘The best that I can be’

October Census

Thursday 4th October is a crucial day for us, as it is the day that the number of children in our school (and those who have school lunches) determines our funding for the following year. It is also when the local authority gathers information on children who are entitled to Pupil Premium funding. If you have not yet checked if you are eligible (see letter sent by Mrs Wakeman), please do so, as the more funds the school can secure, the better for all the children.

The special lunch menu on Thursday will be Space themed: Asteroid Chicken Nuggets, U.F.O Cheese & Tomato Pizza, Sweetcorn Stars, Astronauts Broccolli, Alien Fries and Saturn’s Ring Jam Doughnut (Fresh Fruit, Cheese and Crackers or Yoghurt).

All Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a school meal free of charge and we would like all of these children to have a school meal on Thursday. If your child is in Year 3, 4, 5, or 6, the meal costs £2.20, payable on sQuid. We’d love to break our record of 90% take-up for school meals.

Year 5 Sports at Frances Bardsley

Year 5 had a great afternoon on Monday when they took part in a sports festival with 3 other primary schools. The event was extremely well organised and we were all very impressed with the leadership skills of the Year 10 Frances Bardsley girls. As members of the LIFE Education trust, we will be taking part in many more events like this.

Education Sunday

It was lovely to see so many Dame Tipping families at St. John’s on Sunday. Rhys, Oscar, Lexi and Fern read their prayers beautifully and the other children got involved in other parts of the service.

We are hoping to invite members of the school to other church services in the near future. Reverend David is keen for our children and families to become involved in the Armistice Day service on 11th November.

Naming Uniform

Please can you ensure that all your child’s uniform, including P.E kit and coats are clearly labelled (even if just with a marker or biro). We have already found many unnamed items of clothing, which are very difficult to return to their rightful owners. Anything we can’t reunite with its owner will be placed in the lost property tub.

Unwanted Uniform

Please bring any unwanted uniform into school so that the Friends of Dame Tipping can sell it in their second hand uniform sale.

NSPCC Speak Out Stay Safe

The children enjoyed having the opportunity to talk about how they can keep themselves safe during the NSPCC assemblies and workshop this week. Aaliyah (Y5) said : ‘We learnt how to keep ourselves safe online, like don’t post pictures of yourself online’ ; Paul (Y5) said : ‘We learnt who to call if we felt worried or unsafe- Childline 0800 1111’.
