‘The best that I can be’

Dear parents/ carers,

It was lovely to see so many of you this week during parents evening. The children were so proud of their work and it was great for them to be able to talk to their parents and carers about their learning. Reception parents will have the same opportunity on Monday 19th October.

NSPCC Sponsor forms

Thank you to everyone who has returned their forms and money. If you forgot to bring it in today, it’s not too late. Please return by next Friday at the latest. The total raised will be in next week’s newsletter.

School Council

The School Council met for the first time today. The meeting was very well led by our Head Girl, Scarlett and Head Boy, William. The children came up with some great ideas to help improve the school further, many of which will be put into action later this term. One this term’s priority actions have been agreed, we will let you know what they are.

Friends of Dame Tipping

The Friends of Dame Tipping held their AGM this week. The following roles were filled: Chair: Danielle Davies, Vice Chair: Michelle Webb, Treasurer: Marcia Hagon, Secretary: Kay Percival. We also had some new parents joining the committee. The Friends have £1700 funds at present, which will be used to buy new playground equipment. Once plans for the playground have been finalised and costed, they will be shared with the whole school community. The friends have also pledged £600 to subsidise the cost of our Christmas Panto and Theatre trips, which this year will involve every child.

Parents Evening

Thank you to all of you who attended Parent’s evening. It seems to have been a very positive experience for teachers, parents and pupils. If you were not able to attend, please contact your child’s class teacher so that they can arrange an alternative date with you.

Autumn Half Term Sports

Please see the attached letter from our coach, Del Holloway, regarding half term sports activities for our children held at Holly Trees Primary School in Brentwood.

Parent and pupil questionnaires

Most of the questionnaires have been returned and next week I will be able to report on how parents and pupils view the school. Your thoughts and those of your children are very valuable to us, so we are very pleased that so many of you responded. Please return your forms on Monday if you have not done so already. There were a few parents who graded us a ‘5’ for everything, but this was not reflected in the child’s questionnaire or the comments. If you think you may have written a 5 (Strongly disagree) by mistake instead of 1 (Strongly agree), please let us know so that we can rectify the situation.

Parent Governor Vacancy

Please remember to hand in your nomination form if you are interested in this post. The deadline is 4pm today.

Morning Drop Off

After half term, all children, including Reception, will need to be dropped off at the door or gate and not brought into the classroom by their parents. There will be someone on duty at both gates and at the front door to see the children in. This is to help the children to become more independent. Thank you, in advance, for your co-operation.

PE Clothing

With winter approaching, children will need to have a tracksuit (or jogging bottoms and a hoodie/sweatshirt) and trainers. PE kits should be kept in school every day and taken home during half term for washing (unless they are particularly muddy).

Attendance

Sadly, quite a few children have still been poorly this week, so our attendance figures are low again. The exception is class 5 and 6, who had fantastic attendance at 98%.

Commendations

Ruby Walton, Oscar Knight, Miller Davis, Chinaza Osaji-Okai, Jack Robinson, Faye Newman,

Well done, everyone !
