300th Birthday Celebrations!

We have had an exciting start to 2024 as we celebrate our 300th Birthday. The anniversary year was kicked off with a formal ceremony held at St John the Evangelist church on the green attended by the Deputy Mayor of Havering, the Archdeacon of Barking, Director of Education for the Diocese, Carrie Prior, and members of the Diocesan Board of Education. The service was led by Rev. David Anderton with reflections shared by Head of School Stella McCarthy, Executive Head, Alice Larkman and readings, songs and prayers from the pupils. Dame Tipping paid just £10 to start the school in Havering-atte-Bower in 1724, which is named after Dame Anne Tipping, a daughter of Sir Thomas Cheeke of Pyrgo, who was Governor of the Tower of London in Stuart times. Dame Anne left a bequest for the education of local children, which is commemorated in the school name.
